Two brothers are clearing out a VHS store owned by their missing father (Henry LeBlanc). They come across a board/VHS game called "Beyond the Gates" apparently the last thing played by their missing father. John (Chase Williamson), Gordon (Graham Skipper) and girlfriend Margo (Brea Grant) start to play the game and discover that they can't opt out. Once started it is completion or death. It is specialized for them...and characters introduced in the first part of the film.
It did remind me of a low budget Jumanji and a larger budget could have improved the ghoul aspect and things beyond the gate. The game is played over several days which lowered any intensity it tries to build with interruptions.
