Just sluggish
17 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Ironically, UPPERCUT MAN is a film every bit as sluggish as the man who stars in it; this hulking piece of oak is none other than Daniel Greene, the star of the hilarious TERMINATOR rip-off HANDS OF STEEL. In this Italian cheapie, Greene plays a young fighter who decides to win a boxing match to prove himself to his girlfriend's father. The film was shot by veteran director Sergio Martino and is one of his lesser flicks. It was shot in Florida like many Italian action movies of the 1980s and '90s, and features Ernest Borgnine in support. The plot draws in every cliché of the boxing film and the fight scenes are routinely staged, leaving it a mess overall.
