G Gundam was inspired by the Soccer World Cup in 1994 and was shown mostly in Asia & America, so it is mainly unknown in Europe. And this is a pity! I started it just for fun, due to this year's World Cup and oh boy what a delightful surprise it was!
Every 4 years there is a tournament, where all countries fight with their gundams (yes, PLURAL), The winner is the ruler of all universe, because the rich all live in Neo Colonies, around Earth, and the most unfortunate at the destroyed planet, due to the wars that have happened prior to the colonization and the tournament, which took the place of human wars. But Earth remains the battlefield and is continuously being destroyed...
The main star is Domon Kasshu, the pilot of Neo Japan's gundam and he is forced to represent his colony, because his father had built the most dangerous Gundam, Devil Gundam and was sentenced to cryogenic prison! He will be released only if Domon wins the tournament. But this tournament hides MANY surprises, surpassing even the "tournament" character...
Enjoy probably the most action-packed Gundam, with its extreme uniqueness, along with great animation and a beautiful soundtrack. Definetely a fresh one, escaping the UC Gundams and maybe the coolest daddy of all anime tournaments!!!
