Nicely animated, story-wise mostly disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
"Lego Marvel Super Heroes: Maximum Overload" is a really fitting title for this mini-series we got here. It was released back in 2013 and features many Marvel superheroes, actually a quantity where you could say indeed there is overload. It's 5 episodes in total, all around a running time of 4-5 minutes, which means you can watch the entire thing in under half an hour and one sitting. I must say that generally I am not a huge fan of Lego animation, but here I was pretty satisfied with the visual side. The characters were not only easy to identify, but there was decent love to detail overall in terms of character and landscape/setting animations. I had another problem with this one and this is about the plots we got here. It's basically Overlo(a)ki vs. Spider-Man, Iron Man and eventually the entire gang. The episode I liked the most was episode 2 of 5, not because it was particularly good, but because it was slightly memorable in its better moments. Episode 1 was tolerable as well, but as a whole disappointing just like episodes 3 to 5 I guess. The disalogue writing was standard Marvel stuff. You could say this is a compliment, but I'd say it's rather the opposite. Especially the comedy writing and quick funny lines (a given for Spidey and Iron Man especially) left me very unimpressed. Main antagonists like The Mandarin felt rushed and wasted at times and the "rushed" applies to the entire thing in fact. The big highlight with how they are getting all the supervillains in at once is just as disappointing as quickly as the action moves to Loki's headquarter, with the equally rushed-in appearance of Thor obviously. So yeah, what can i say about this one. If you love Marvel and Lego animation style (like the many Star Wars films out there), then maybe go check this one out. But if convincing story-telling is more important to you than action and "funny" one-liners, then skip this one here. It's got nothing quality-wise on the recent epic Avengers battle vs. Thanos for example, especially not in the story department. So a filler at best to briedge the months until the next Marvel movie gets released. I give this project here a thumbs-down. Aside from the animation I was very unimpressed. See something else instead.
