Unwisely comic

Warning: Spoilers
DEATHSTALKER II took the unwise decision to descend into out-and-out comedy, although when your lines are delivered by non-actors who have no idea about dramatic effect or the like, the result is going to be half-hearted at best. The poor, juvenile script doesn't help much either. This is very much a typical Jim Wynorski movie, emphasising naked female starlets and little else. There are silly fight scenes, silly situations, bad character names, and worse characters. The whole thing feels like a pantomime spoof of CONAN THE BARBARIAN, complete with fake credits, bad hair, and plenty of '80s cheese. Monique Gabrielle gives the most earnest performance - although that doesn't necessarily equate with good - in a dual good and evil role, but John Terlesky is way out of his depth here, although much more likeable than Rick Hill in the original. Needless to say the whole thing was made on a tiny budget with no kind of FX.
