Warning: Spoilers
Part travelogue, part murder mystery, PHANTOM OF CHINATOWN is another B-movie instalment of the 'Mr Wong' detective series which sees Keye Luke taking a break from Charlie Chan to actually play a Chinese detective who is, well, Chinese, for once. A Mongolian explorer dies due to poisoning, and Wong is called in to discover which of the man's colleagues is responsible. As with most entries in this genre of film-making, this is low budget, no frills stuff, but still enjoyable to a degree, not least thanks to the snappy dialogue and race relations context.
