Review of Hand in Hand

Hand in Hand (1961)
A lovely little movie.
20 February 2019
A old film that starts with high pitched child actor voices can send some to press the channel changer- but stick with it, you will warm to Rachel and Michael as they are absolutely charming, and you are with them all the way as they travel around a past world of mutual respectability between adults and children, when people had time to give for each other's predicaments. However at the time it was made, people possibly did not mix much with others outside their own religious circles leading to myth and suspicion about other faiths, and so the message of the film is that whatever 'club' we belong to,we are all flesh and blood in the end. This movie appeared to be out of circulation for a long time- Then in 2019 my local, small TV station suddenly showed it amongst it's usual fayre of shouty, obscure modern British films and old sex comedies.. a miracle perhaps?
