Edge of Fear (2018)
2/10
Emptiness under the hay

Warning: Spoilers
Ok. I'll say this. Kind of an interesting first ten minutes with a tight bond being established between two Chinese doctors and an American guy they save from dying. Fast forward some years and they all hang out in the Americans cabin out in the woods. A little hunting and wine drinking combined with showering - and from there on it goes south.

Close by a prison bus is hijacked by a group of thugs who collects one important guy from the bus, and kills the others. The writers makes it clear from the start that we are suppose to hate every single member of the criminals except for the guy who's been collected. Their truck gets shot at and the gang goes by foot and eventually end up at the cabin.

The bond that was established in the beginning means nothing as the American gets killed of relatively fast. Then the male doctor escapes death and goes on a vengeance hunt with a knife in his heart. Yes. A knife. In his heart. The guy has zero combat experience and starts to whoopsie-doopsie-kill off the thugs. You would think that when your whole gang one by one gets murdered by an (to their initial knowledge) unknown assasain, there would be a reaction close to a little bit human from the ones still alive. But no. Not a single showing of fear, sadness, panicking or who knows what. The main antagonist is as stone cold stiff as a T-1000 forever waiting by the police radio in case some Connor news drop. This flick is for those who crave bad guys to be ultra bad and good guys to be nothing but pure good.

Oh, and the peak: One time the protagonist hides perfectly under some hay. Half dead hiding perfectly under hay in the middle of the day close to his pray. Did I mention he's on the lawn and not in a barn? Two thumbs up to the guy who helped him and then magically disappeared. Because I'm ruling out that he could have done that himself, with knife in heart and all. Right, writers?

It's a rent.
