I haven't seen the Broadway farce on which this is based, so I can't tell you how different from that it is. What it is is a quintessential French farce, with the wrong person showing up at the worst time and creating lots of funny problems for the characters.
Everyone in this movie is good. Jack Weston, F. Murray Abraham - in a part very different from Salieri, Treat Williams, Kay Ballard, etc. It's very much an ensemble piece, and it moves with the speed of greased lightening.
Kudos to everyone involved.
