I'm sure she could have escaped

Warning: Spoilers
This drama had a few lessons for unsuspecting backpackers, and not just young women, as I'm sure that young men, too, are vulnerable if they are as naive as the girl in this movie.

But having fallen for his initial seduction, she suddenly finds herself a prisoner in his apartment, which he has carefully escape-proofed. She can't break the windows. They are reinforced glass on the outside. She can't ring the police, because her mobile phone has been tampered with. (Although we discover from the goofs/trivia that emergency calls ~can~ still be made from a phone without its SIM card.)

But I'm not convinced. She tried stabbing him with a screwdriver through his hand, but why not through his neck? Or into the ear? Why could she not have risked going deaf by turning up the volume on the stereo as loud as possible to attract attention from neighbours? After all, one of them did heed her cries, and attempted to come to her aid only to be conveniently murdered by her seducer, who just happened to be right behind him in the stairwell.

Also, the apartment was just full of stuff. She might have been able to use it to escape. She didn't even attempt to barricade the front door. It might have helped. She certainly had plenty of free time while he was away doing his teaching job.

The worst part was the ending. We never saw what happened to him. I wanted, really wanted to see 10 police cars turn up, sirens blaring, and burly officers breaking down that door. But we can only imagine that, for the director couldn't be bothered to show us.
