Ally McBeal (1997–2002)

Okay. So this show is a little out there. The characters are all very, um, unique. It's not a bad show, really. My issue is that the entire premise of the show rests on Ally being absolutely heartbroken but set on finding the great things in life. She wants it all: the career, the gorgeous husband, the perfect child, and a white picket fence. Yes, in the beginning Ally is whiny and pouty, often displaying sheer immaturity. Toward the end; however, her character starts to realize the true pain of having everything. The ending of the show, for me, was sad. Yes, Ally found herself surrounded by her friends... But she didn't truly get everything she wanted and knew she had to settle. It's not a happy ending type show if that's what someone is looking for, but it does remind us all that life is constantly throwing surprises our way.

But this is all because RD Jr. had legal issues and was impossible to work with. Otherwise, I like to think that Ally would've had it all. Way to go, RD Jr.
