Invader Zim:Enter the Florpus Directed by Jhonen Vasquez, Young Kyun Park and Hong-Seung Yoon. Written by Jhonen Vasquez, Breehn Burns and Gary Wilson

Who would have thought that after 20 years Invader Zim has come back. The little insane cartoon that Nickelodeon barely let continue during its initial run. It was grotesque and wild and funny. The movie brings back the original creator and it continues in this vein and it is glorious.

Sometimes this resurge of nostalgia can be a good thing. I got back Joe Bob Briggs on a weekly basis with the Last Drive In and now Invader Zim got a movie and so did Rocko's Modern Life. The only issue I have with this resurgence of old shows coming back is us forcing our childhood on our kids. We are eventually going to run out of old shows.

But that's not the point. The point is to celebrate because Invader Zim:Enter the Florpus is magic. It is like it never went away. It is wildly grotesque. It is very funny. It made me laugh out loud several times. The animation is beautiful and gross and it fits in so much in its short runtime. The runtime might be short but it is the perfect length. This movie is also a good way to conclude the story. It is open ended enough while concluding the story lines from the show. Shows rarely get this kind of closure.

This is an excellent movie. I think if you were even mildly curious about Invader Zim. You should definitely check it out. If you're a fan of the show, it's imperative you see this now. It is worth checking out once to get the feel of the jokes and the insanity. It is worth checking out again to see all the background jokes you might have missed before. This was just delightful. I give this movie an A.
