I cannot understand the rave reviews. My wife and I watched 3 episodes and found this to be almost devoid of any humour, dramatic interest or even originality. The idea of a lead character addressing the audience is hardly new and rapidly becomes tedious. Maybe it becomes more involving the more one watches but our boredom threshold having already been passed and we will never know! The continued use of the same comedy techniques (eg talking to camera whilst having sex), talking in staccato voice, silly facial expressions -Colman and the lead character in particular - seem to substitute a certain type of English 'style' over comedy or dramatic content. Does not stand any comparison with the best American comedy/drama.
