Touching Evil (1997–1999)

Gritty- a cut above

Touching Evil is an accurate title. as always Robson Green is excellent, as are his 2 supporting Detectives. I wish this wasn't a fictional division of UK police, and was more reality based. The crimes are difficult - and this is not an easy series. not PG- no one under 16- even in this era of children who know, see too much. it's very noir- partly bec much of the activity takes place at night, or in unlit houses. some criticized the pace and characters- I still think this is a cut above the average crime "thriller", and the characters are believable. for the most part compared to something like Prime Suspect, I can't remember it in detail. But I have seen numerous British, Aussie, USA and other foreign crime police shows, that were boring and unwatchable. I would like it if the detective in questioning didn't yell at the suspect. I don't think detectives lose their tempers, and as an interrogation tool, it's worthless. I am a suspect, maybe guilty; I am going to be crushed & confess bec someone is yelling at me. I watched this in the late 90s on PBS- but really didn't remember the plots, so I can re-watch it. Season 2 Ep#1 & #2 (2 part) I had trouble with the premise. Season 3 Ep#3 the last half- hard to swallow- the highly dramatic conclusion didn't play well.
