In between assignments as Charlie Chan, Sidney Toler found time to play the villain in this South Seas adventure, Isle Of Forgotten Sins. And the hero of the
piece, would you believe John Carradine.
It must have tickled his fancy to for once be the hero and get the girl. And what a girl. None other than the spiderwoman herself Gale Sondergaard. In this film and only a minor league one like PRC would get away with having Sondergaard play a brothel madam.
Anyway Carradine and his pal Frank Fenton recognize Toler now a prosperous planter as a captain who scuttled his ship with a big shipment of gold on it. So they and Sondergaard and her girls decide to go after it.
All I'll say is that they are only half smart and a shaky half at that. Lots of stock storm and tropic isle footage with an ending that had potential, but was ruined in the execution.
