Stereotypical isekai OP protagonist. If it's not your thing, avoid this one. If you like that, then this is one of the best.

The main character Maple starts playing an online game and decides to minmax defense so she doesn't get hurt. Maple stumbles into friends and powerups that complement her well.

The show is incredibly light-hearted and doesn't have the depth of other popular anime in the genre do, such as Shield Hero or Log horizon. This show also doesn't have the character progression that shows like My Hero academia and One Piece have. BOFURI does not have much fan service and lacks the typical harem trope.

The game uses true multiplicative scaling, which complements Maple's build well. No large IRL mmo uses this because it's too hard to balance. Warframe is the closest IRL game I can think of that uses multiplicative gear scaling, but it's still not quite the same. BOFURI is not an accurate representation of modern MMOs, but then again your not here to grind a game. You're here to chill and watch anime.

Here are some similar anime. If you like these, then you will like BOFURI. If you didn't like these, don't watch BOFURI.

-Overlord -One punch man -Irregular at magic highschool -Reincarnated as a slime -Tanya the evil -Shield Hero -How not to summon a demonlord -Philosopher's Grandson -Ultramarine Magmell
