Ateet (2020)
4/10
A foggy realm, a strange outcome

Warning: Spoilers
Ateet (Zee5) - Ateet (Rajeev Khandelwal), taken as dead due in war action, returns to find that his wife Janvi (Priyamani) is now married to his friend Vishwa (Sanjay Suri) and his daughter Sana has no idea about him. He has to set things right and reclaim what is rightfully his by revealing a treacherous plot that shut him off for several years.

Ateet is a supernatural thriller with a great premise but absolutely shoddy execution. The secret behind Ateet's disappearance is revealed midway - therefore much of the film is about how he returned and how Janvi traces and connects the leads to know about the reality, and this is where matters go completely out of hand. If a soldier recuperating in an army hospital can write a letter to his wife before he dies to narrate the truth, why could he not make a statement to the authorities about the same? The realm of Ateet also leaves much to be appreciated - too many loose ends, too few explanations.
