Swing girls is an excellent "feel good" movie about misfits overcoming their own faults and attitudes and learning to love something. A fairly predictable but thoroughly enjoyable movie.
In rating this 10 stars I didn't ask "Is it one of the best movies ever made?", but rather "Is it entertaining and fun as intended?" Yes it was. Did it have any significant flaws?" Not that I could see. The movie was well-written, well-directed, well acted, and with both the worst and best music you'll hear in a musical score... by intent.
Some reviews pointed out it's difficult to believe one can acquire significant skill on an instrument in a short period of time. But quite a bit of time passed here. They had time to practice... quite a bit of it. There's nothing in the time frame that would be impossible to achieve.
Overall a very pleasing and enjoyable movie. It's a shame it is so extremely difficult to find here in the U.S. This movie deserves all the recognition it gets, and better distribution than Showtime currently offers. Wonderful film, full of heart and enjoyable characters.
