Black Money Love (2014–2015)

With a few tweaks it could be the best Turkish series out there.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the series. The storyline has a flow to it and the directing is the best I have seen so far in Turkish series. Naturally, with every Turkish series there are unnecessary plot twists and they kill off too many characters. But what brings me here is Tuba, who plays Elif. They could've chosen a better actress. Unfortunately, they just wanted a famous, beautiful actress to play the role, not a talented one. There are plenty of actresses in this show that did an outstanding job, like Bestemsu and Damla, but they were given less important roles. Tuba is too aware of the camera and so, her acting feels exaggerated. At some point, I could not stand it her acting that I kept skipping through her scenes. Adding on to that, the dialogue between Elif and Omer feels teenage-like, which could have been avoided. I was also disappointed by the request Elif made at the end of the show for Omer to resign. The show could have ended at Tayyar's death, or with strong evidence against him to serve life in prison, but they kept going. By wanting to somehow bring the show to an end, the last episodes were rushed, at least in comparison to the previous episodes. Huseyin's paralysis was touching, especially when he was in bed at his house listening to the kids outside, but it wasn't planned properly. When Huseyin pushed Omer aside to avoid getting shot, Huseyin could have fallen on the floor over his brother. Instead he stood casually with his hands pressing against the pedestal. Again, with some tweaks it could be the best Turkish series out there.
