Great Season 1 Bad Season 2

Warning: Spoilers
This was one of my favorite shows to watch as a kid. It was cheerful, funny and intense on battle scenes (at least to a kid). The first season was great it flowed and everything was so put together.

The second season was not. It was way to complex and it did not flow. Everything was choppy and seemed so last minute. Even as an adult watching with my little one I even got confused. The scene goes from one place to the next zip zap so your just trying to fallow where they are.

A whole flow of new characters comes in at random times. Sometimes you meet one new person and the next like 4 all at once in a rush to get information.

And I especially DO NOT like that there is a character who is a murder and they out right say it in this TV show for kids. I can understand most action series do have them but the way it was done was just so cruel. Who has to explain to a 6year old that this person killed (had explain what murder and killing was, she took it well enough) this ghost one and now bam their working together. Granted under a spell but still.

Then having an old evil grandmother figure be the mother of a 17 year old hero with a father young enough to be her own son. My little girl just couldn't understand it and I tried.

Then they all end up with boyfriends because they need/want it. My little girl was saying "Why does Windy aka Hay-Lin need a boy yuck. She can fly." And I agree it would have been a better female empowerment for her to be single and strong. That's another problem her boyfriend just seemed to thrown in like "Oh her let's give her one to so she's not alone."

AND AS FOR THEIR "NEW POWERS". No way that had me more confused then the constant switching of locations and additional new characters. It made so sense for strong simple elements to go to psychic mind powers.

So the first season completely 10 stars. The simple meaning of friendship, being the bigger person, family, saving then working with your enemies. The bad was the bad guy. He acted like a spoiled brat so even my little girl was asking why the big snake (Cedric) didn't put him in a time out. To which I found hilarious. It worked classic easy and made for young kids to learn from.

Season 2 gets 3 stars. One for the attempt at 'trying' to grow with the audience, a second for using all the first characters to the point of over doing it and third because while the idea of Phobos having to work with the girls is a good idea. However nothing panned out. Too complex for the viewing audience, hence now I know why I stopped watching it as a kid. The scenes were to mixed up and too hard to fallow. Three by trying to go deeper and more mature into the characters you lost that strong innocence that the kid could relate to. And that a their matured audience did care to fallow as they did grow just got more complex. So 5 star for the total. I wish they'd left it at season one. It would've been so good. The in season 2 their was a cliff hanger with that new teacher who was obviously suppost to be important.
