Style and Little Substance
30 October 2020
A young model moves to L.A. and is instantly preyed upon by almost everyone she comes into contact with, but some of them might have a very specific and sinister reason why they want to get close to her.

The Neon Demon is a perfect example of style over substance. We know next to nothing about these characters, which makes them feel like nameless fairy tale characters drawn in broad brush strokes. By the time the film gets to the real horror elements of the film, it's almost over and that's a shame. It's still worth a watch just for the pretty images, insane finale, and dreamy synth score.
