Baffled at the direction they took here...

Warning: Spoilers
Before we get to the part everyone has been talking about, I want to say that this episode started out with potential, and there ARE many decent parts of it. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the more casual team interaction at the beginning of the episode, and these are part of the reasons why I enjoy this show. The case itself had potential, but was not quite executed that well. I liked the idea of having an unsub that "didn't want anything" so he couldn't be negotiated with. I thought the chaos of unsub was great, but fizzled out with the oddness of his "game." Alvez had some amusing moments with Rossi and Tara, but everyone else was very average and I didn't see many standout performances. The "truth or dare game" with JJ and the unsub seemed very forced into the episode, like a forced theme they wanted to have through to the end of the episode. It just didn't work for me and wasn't believable at all that the unsub would play along.

I'm sure many people agree, but the absolute worst thing about this episode was JJ "confessing" her love for Reid. It was a completely odd, out of left field turn that felt more like the show writers trying to tease and please JJ/Reid fans before the end of the show. Reid had a small crush on JJ in the first season of the show, but that would've been about ten or so years ago, and it's so odd that it would make him ponder over this "chance" with a married JJ now or the idea that their relationship would even go anywhere. There has never been any hints or inklings of JJ seeing Reid as anything more than a friend or even brother, and their close platonic relationship was a positive in this show. Not to mention, JJ and Will's relationship is one of the best and most developed ones on the show and it seems completely ridiculous that they would even try to tease the possibility of JJ jeopardizing her marriage and family for a crush? It's understandable for her to say it out of the blue to keep her and Reid alive but it's really cringy and weird for her to drag it out at Rossi's wedding. It's pretty obvious to me that these shots at the wedding are meant to stir up drama and mislead viewers before probably ending the awkwardness next season but man, was this bad.

Rossi's wedding was alright. For someone like Rossi who had far more memorable and grand parties for agents leaving, it was odd that his wedding felt the complete opposite of grand and posh. It was massively brought down by the JJ/Reid tension and Prentiss, who usually has great performances, had such an awkward and unfunny speech. I personally enjoyed the interactions between Alvez and Garcia, and I suspect that Lisa may soon be out of the picture considering her appearances have completely stopped. I would not be surprised if the show writers decided to pair Alvez and Garcia together next season.

Especially considering this is a season finale, this was a massive disappointment. The case done very quickly and poorly executed, which kept it from being memorable. The only memorable thing is the JJ/Reid drama, and it was definitely memorable, but in a very bad way. Overall, not a good episode at all, and it definitely ruins an otherwise decent season for me.
