At the time of this writing, this movie rated a 7.3 - about the same rank as Kati Patang. And frankly I don't understand how these two movies are anywhere close to each other.

Pakeezah is a thoughtful look into some of the hypocrisies of society - any society. The concepts of honor, gender, material possessions and social status being nothing more than a way of categorizing and isolating humanity - an ego trip blocking one from seeing the true nature of all human beings.

Pakeezah means Purity - Purity of heart, and the sometimes the lower we rank in society, the freer we are of the pretentions that come from the societal concepts of Pride and Honor.

The sets are amazing. Every frame is a painting.

Much of the dialogue is poetry.

It is now on Amazon Prime. Watch it with the subtitles. I promise you, you will be rewarded with the most poetic, romantic story about our human strengths and weaknesses.
