Punk'd (2020– )
5/10
OK'ish Remake of the old Classic.
30 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I found this very short series online and decided to give it a watch since I was a big fan of the original. This was obviously remade for the younger viewers. I've heard of the folks who got Punk'd. But, I'm not really that familiar with them. The 1st episode was horrible. A rapper woman's dog ran away from her dog walker. She cursed the dog walker and everyone else around her out (Classy 'Lady', right). Then someone calls with the 'I found your dog, come pick it up' line and they head that way. She's still cursing. They get there and there's a huge gorilla n a cage that gets loose. They're still in the SUV. The gorilla starts chasing a bystander and he tries to get in their SUV for safety. She yells to her entourage 'LOCK THE DOORS". Class Act, sees someone getting attacked and refuses to help. Episode 2: It was just stupid and involved no humor. Only people getting hurt by mild disasters. So, people getting hurt is now funny? Episode 3 had an original Punk'd theme. It was about a guys 'pride and joy' car getting destroyed. That's right out of Kutcher's Punk'd playbook. So, it's a Hit or Miss series. With more Misses than Hits so far. I've only watched the first 3 episodes so far. If the remaining 7 improve, I'll come back for an update. There will be no season 2 (unless another platform picks it up) since QUIBI was a short lived streaming site that went bankrupt. UPDATE: I watched the next 3 episodes and 2 were pretty good. It's a 50-50 hit or miss. But the good ones bring back the 'original show nostalgia'. I just wish the short lived series would have had better scripts/stories. The announcer guy is pretty good. He's super enthusiastic and bounces around like Kutcher did in the original series. Too bad he won't get a season 2. But, he's pretty famous (my kids/grandkids listen to his music) and I'm sure he's not too worried about it.
