Warning: Spoilers
Approaching end-stage Alzheimers, gay love, and suicidal intentions all in one movie! If these things don't prejudice you, this is a pretty good movie. To address some of the low raters, this doesn't seem like it's promoting homosexuality. It's a fact that 'it' exists, and whether you believe you're born into it doesn't matter here. It's a mature love story. I'd be surprised if Tucci doesn't receive an Oscar nomination, though Firth may also rate one. Some movies may have covered the same Alzheimers ground, but with our aging population, this won't be the last. I thought the emotions it stirs were realistic. Finally, the suicide (off-screen) is the most disturbing, though - yes - it also happens. Again, I don't think this is promoting it, just showing the angst of a person who pursues it. BTW - if you can't figure out the ending - Sam (Firth) reconciles himself to his song-tem lovers plan and plays the recital.
