A rather boring movie...
13 February 2021
Right, well I must admit that I was actually expecting a bit more from this 2014 movie titled "Temporary Family" (aka "Sat luen gap yeung") from writer and director Goo-Bi GC. Why? Well, given the cast that was in the movie.

Granted, I hadn't even heard about the movie prior to sitting down here in 2021 to watch it. So I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into here. But the fact that this was a movie that I hadn't already seen, and it being a Hong Kong movie nonetheless, was more than sufficient to make me sit down to give it a go.

And I made it halfway through the ordeal that is "Temporary Family", then I was just done. I gave up on the movie out of sheer and utter boredom. The movie offered nothing in terms of enjoyable entertainment, and not even Nick Cheung or Sammi Cheng could manage to salvage this train wreck of a movie.

The storyline is tedious, so incredibly tedious to the point of pointlessness. There was nothing happening throughout the course of the half movie that I managed to suffer through. Incredibly slow paced storytelling, and not much of an interesting story nor interesting characters to sell the movie.

Yeah, "Temporary Family" was a swing and a miss from writer and director Goo-Bi GC. And it most certainly fell short of what I consider entertainment.

My rating of "Temporary Family" lands on a generous three out of ten stars, based mostly on the production value of the movie. If you enjoy Hong Kong comedies, there are far, far better movies readily available out there.
