Rush'n Attack (1985 Video Game)

Before Contra, there was this soldier run and gun (or run and stab for the most part), which had some cool features. Special weapons like the flamethrower, bazooka, and grenades provided relief for the game's difficulty. Graphics were nice, good side-scrolling action. Music is exciting, sets the mood well, and there's a clear objective to the game. The ending also wraps up the story, then loops through to repeat.

Responsiveness could certainly use some help. No one likes cheap-deaths and there seemed to be a bit of that here and there. The one death, lack of continues makes the game a frustrating downer. Simultaneous multiplayer would've helped.
