By the time yet another character returned from the dead I was pretty much done with this story. The Coen Brothers can sometimes be bit much-they just get a bit too odd or out there. This is film suffers from that problem repeatedly.
However, the film does have all of the Coens' strengths. The dialogue crackles with comedic energy. The direction has a pleasing mathematical precision. The acting and characters are goofy and menacing in equal parts. The film is clearly playing around with crime tropes and film noir style. I suspect fans of the Coen's will be more pleased with this film than I am.
