Review of StartUp

StartUp (2016–2018)
8/10
Business as usual (?)

Not really to be honest ... although the third season does circle back on certain things that the very first season established. Not everything from the beginning mind you, but we get a set of characters and we follow them ... and their struggles. Different families, different set of values and quite unlikely to be together in it ... but maybe that is what makes them the perfect group of people.

The first two seasons are the best, when it comes to suspense and downfalls ... the third is good too, but not as engaging as the first two were. The pace seems to have slowed down. It feels a bit constructed when it comes to the suspense ... not to mention that the relationships seem to take blows that also seem quite ... well taken from nowhere to be frank.

But the show overall is more than worth a watch! Great actors and really some extreme developments ... not to mention that the show keeps it real as much as possible, taking moments to breathe and let things sink in. Now the very first episode set an interesting blueprint ... one that was not met after that to any similar degree. The first 15 minutes of the very first episode you have 3 sexual encounters! 4 if I remember correctly overall in that episode. Now there is no nudity to speak of (I didn't freeze frame for closer looks), but this may feel off putting to some or enticing to others. So I'm mentioning that, so you know that is not a pace or quota the show is meeting after that. There are occasional encounters (also free of nudity as far as I could tell), but the show lives of the character flaws of the main cast.

Interesting show that while had some issues in season 3, ends in the best way possible! Not to mention that we get a new character introduced that really does not hold back any punches ...
