By the very definition of a noir it will be dark. Know what you're in for and get over it, already.
I walked in LA Confidential knowing it was a film noir... I knew I was in for a stoic, dark story. If I were to walk out saying, "Why isn't it happier?" I'm showing ignorance to what a film noir is (and Hollywood Confidential is a GREAT movie).
This series is a noir... it is dark, sad, and complex. The lead character is issues.
I love happy comedies.... if you want to losing check out the British panel show, "Would I Lie To You," or "Peep Show," if you need a laugh, but don't go into Wallandar expecting laughs. Wallander has dark issues and is dealing with murder: ie, a film noir. Please stop pointing out how dark & sad it is... know what a noir is going in.
