Nifty sci-fi/horror outing
12 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Journalist and UFO investigator Sara Hamilton (a fine and appealing portrayal by Andrea Gausch) teams up with forest ranger Joe (a solid and likeable performance by Joe Manjon) to check out a famous UFO hot spot located in the deep woods. The pair run afoul of a predatory extraterrestrial.

Writer/director Marc Carrete relates the engrossing story at a constant pace, ably crafts a creepy and unsettling mood, makes nice use of the secluded sylvan setting, delivers a few moments of pleasingly nasty gore, and generates a good deal of tension. Gausch and Manjon make for engaging leads; they receive sound support from Ramon Canals as crazed scraggly hermit Ed, Liliana Cabal as the eager Officer Wilson, Mark Schardan as an earnest TV presenter, Sue Flack as a mean nurse, and Julius Cotter as a gruff police investigator. The surprise grim ending packs a jolting punch. A gnarly little flick.
