Warning: Spoilers
Brief synopsis. Train crashes in the underground in Victorian Britain., 10 passengers survive but are trapped in the underground never to be saved due to the cost. Cut to 75 years or so later. The survivors now living in the in the underground, it turns out the last remaining survivors of the train crash have been living and dying trapped, living by eating the flesh of unlucky train passengers, who go wandering in the decaying underground network. Never having seeing day light, the sole surviving man in the underground has scurvy and over time they have lost their power of speech, the only words coming from his are the vague recollections of forgotten announcements station announcements "mind the doors". Donald Pleasence stars and he's really good as are the various British actors (who you'll recognise from British Tv if the early 70s) where this film excels is in its documentary style camera work , the camera roams around the underground lair perusing rotting bodies and flesh and the survivors slowly decaying before your eyes. It's grim but captivating. It's not a classic but it's an original horror film and needs viewing because of that.
