Gibbs is getting his coffee fix in a diner when he is confronted by a gunman. In the next moment he finds himself sitting in a mystical sunlit version of the same diner, surrounded by people he knows, some of whom are dead. Gibbs then experiences flashbacks concerning decisions he has taken, particularly the shooting of his family's killer.
There is more than a touch of It's A Wonderful Life about this episode, as his former mentor, Mike Franks, and others, guide him through a series of alternative realities and what-might-have-beens.
