CELESTE - A Decaying Love Story
9 July 2021
Ben Hackworth's feature film CELESTE is a masterpiece through and through. From the script, the cinematography, the setting, the directorial vision and the performances - specifically from Radha Mitchell as Celeste - this film remains true to its convictions and presents a love story that is uniquely visual and subtly demanding of the audience.

Set against the decaying remains of a once beautiful estate, the character of Celeste (a once great opera singer) finds herself wasting away as she prepares for her final performance. In desperation, she calls back her stepson Jack (Thomas Cocquerel) who still harbors many demons from his complicated childhood with Celeste and his father.

In the most skillful way, director Ben Hackworth allows the scenery and subtle silence to speak volumes as the film slowly unravels itself over the course of the narrative - revealing more and more of the past while at the same time, sorting out the present. In short, CELESTE is a breathtaking journey that stands as a true testament to the directorial style and vision of Ben Hackworth. Simply FANTASTIC and a MUST WATCH for all!
