As a Jew who does put up a Christmas tree, I was eager to see this offering to the Hallmark Christmas line up. Big mistake!!
Never have so many annoying characters appeared in one story! It's hard to tell which one is the most worthy of being pelted with hard fruitcakes and jelly doughnuts. The mother, who obviously had no life of her own so her soul purpose in life is to marry off her daughter to who ever will have her? The daughter, who is so wimpy that rather than acting like a grow woman opts to have a pretend boyfriend so mommy won't be mad at her? The pretend boyfriend, a man who not only comes across as possessing the emotional maturity of a 5th grader, but who also must be the only Jew outside of an Orthodox Kibbutz in Israel, who DOESN'T know the basic facts about celebrating Christmas, like the fact that you DON'T decorate someone's tree for them? Obviously, this guy must spend from October thru January living under a rock and thus escaping all the Christmas specials, commercials and store displays that would have provided him with a much needed clue about how Christmas is celebrated in America!
Yup, unlike most of Hallmark's holiday offerings, this one left me with more heartburn than 2 helpings of Christmas goose and a plate full of gefilte fish. Come on Hallmark, you can do better than this!
