Teriffic Historical Fiction & Awesome acting
10 August 2021
I love his movie and have loved it since I first saw this magnificent film when it was released to theaters in 1969. The costumes and the superb pageantry has always struck me for the accuracy of what the Tudor court must have been like during Henry VIII's reign.

Richard Burton's acting was great, but it was the young Genevieve Bujold's performance that truly makes the film. She was superb as the passionate portrayal of what Anne must have been like. I always believed it was badly short changed at the Oscars for only winning one for costume designs. Admittedly they were so true to life for the period,It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards for all the principal actors and best picture and director.

This movie gave me a lifelong fascination in me for Anne Bolelyn and Henry Tudor's medieval England. I honestly think Burton's portrayal of what the the real Henry's reign of medieval England is still with me today. All these years I imagined that the real Henry may have been so similar to the person he have been like during his lifetime.

The acting of al the key historically famous members of the Tudor court, , the clergy and former friends and all the other principal character during that part of Henry's life. All the men he had executed, So started beginning of his his tyrannical reign of executions, His moral decline into madness.and obsessions. And the reign of terror he unleashed all over England with the thousands of execution of innocent clergymen as well as so many people who were loyal to him until he became irrational and tried to force them to sign the royal edict to support him breaking with Catholic church.

Though I have seen many movies that depicted his tyrannical personality and obsession of a male heir, but this in my opinion was the best, ever I wish I could give it more than ten stars.. It is just that good..
