EDGAR ULMER'S SOUTH-SEA ADVENTURE FEATURES INTERESTING CAST...BUT ULTIMATELY IS A SLOG
1 September 2021
Some B-Movie Names like Edgar G. Ullmer, John Carradine, Gale Sondergaard, and Sydney Toler Promise More than this Sloggy Sea-Going Island-Adventure can Deliver.

A Bevy of Beauties and a Lengthy Fist-Fight Highlight the Opening and Things Look Good and Deliver.

But the Second Act is so Boring, Corny and Lethargic with Lengthy Underwater Scenes Utilizing a Puppet, that the Movie Stops Dead in the Water and Never Recovers much Momentum.

It's Worth a Watch to See Carradine as a Leading Ladies Man, Sondergaard as a Madame, and Sidney Toler the Main Villain.

Ulmer's Direction is Professional and Competent and a Decent Try Considering.

But the Film is Drowned by too Many Twists and Alliances and a Middle Section that is Deadening.

Note...Re-Released as "Monsoon"
