The worst forgettable pop of that era. There's not one performer on the soundtrack who is remembered today, except Joan Jett who was a huge star before the film.
As others point out, the story is nonsense. The dance sequences were pretty much of that time, and mocked even when it came out. It only got an audience because of the huge boost from MTV.
Points only for a sequence with hip hop break dancers far better than anything else in the film.
