This movie falls into the, "Why was this movie made?" category. I really can't understand, what was the point, if only an importance, to it's actor/writer in the movie. It's very entertaining, with an interesting angle of story, it's rock of acting performance, the always great and reliable Hopper as the titled star. Madsen does what he does best play bad, and this is another scummy role, to add to his healthy notch of film credits. I really liked Kiefer Sutherland, as a desperate, stressed, z grade porn filmmaker, who loses more than his horse bets. Daryl Hannah, whose made a few pics with Madsen, is authentically great, as an aspiring and drug dependent, porn actress/junkie, who has some believably tense moments, and pulls at your heartstrings, with actor/writer, playing Madsen's associate, solid. Worth a watch for Hopper fans, but some will be disappointed by this straight to video pic. You're probably also wondering why Hopper got the name will fly.
