Hannibal: Amuse-Bouche (2013)
Season 1, Episode 2
8/10
Much More Disturbing Episode than the First, both Psychologically and Physically
4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Continuing my (re)watching binge of Season One, I watched Episode Two and it still makes my skin crawl.

Basically, the serial killer in this one is very messed up psychologically. He buries people alive, after inducing them into comas, and covers them with fertilizer so mushrooms will rapidly grow on them and eat away their physical bodies while they are still alive. The scene where the mushroom garden is discovered and subsequently investigated by the forensic team and Will is the stuff primordial nightmares are made of. Also, the scene at the end where Will has a session with Hannibal is quite disturbing.

Plus, this is the episode where we first meet true crime reporter Fredricka 'Freddie' Lounds, who goes to very unethical lengths to get her little scoops and apparently shows no shame as a result of her actions having more negative effects than positive. There is a great scene between her and Hannibal and after watching several more episodes with her, you just wish that Hannibal killed her right then and there and had her for an after-dinner mint.

Stay Scared!
