Although I prefer the Daniel Day Lewis version of this film (as does my daughter, Elise), the one with Randolph Scott is no slouch. My father's favorite actor, Scott, plays this role to perfection. He is the equal of Lewis in almost every scene. However, the Magua in the modern version is untouchable as the best ever. The music in the modern version is better as well. But do not let that deter you from seeing this version, which easily beats most of the other competition from the era.
