Funny Cult-Trash
30 March 2022
In Hollywood, the aspirant guitar player Martin (Stephen Quadros) is a complete loser, living in a dirty trailer and working in a pizzeria. When the band of Lindsay Roberts (Traci Lords) needs a guitar player, a friend of Martian summons him for an audition during the working period. He offends his boss Tony (Aldo Ray) that does not allow him to go, but he is humiliated in the audition and not accepted by the band. When he asks for his job back, Tony recalls his offense and says no. Further, he is expelled from his trailer by the manager. Martin decides to visit a Voodoo Woman (Tyger Sodipe) and she promises anything he wants provided he gives his soul to the devil. He accepts the deal and is stabbed on the chest to death. When he wakes up, he is in a comfortable house with the women Michelle (Karen Russell), Marilyn (Gina Parks) and Monique (Laurel Wiley) to serve him the way he wants. He visits the band again as the guitar player Angel Martin. He has a conflict with the band leader Jonny (Markus Grupa) and puts his eyes on the girlfriend of Greg (Tim Moffett) and band manager, Lindsay. Soon he becomes a rock star but he learns that he has a price to pay to the devil to keep his dreams.

"Shock 'Em Dead" is a funny cult-trash from the early 90's and released only on VHS in Brazil. The plot is a funny variation of Faust and "Phantom of Paradise", in the rock'n'roll world. The music is good and the ham acting is hilarious. The cameo of the veterans Troy Donahue and Aldo Ray in his last movie give their name to improve the credits. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Shock 'Em Dead - Magia Negra no Rock" ("Shock 'Em Dead - Black Magic in Rock")
