Beautiful Color Cinematography, Solid Acting, But....

Warning: Spoilers
A good film should be able to stand on its own. The audience should not have to have to be familiar with the original source material from which it's adapted in order to enjoy it. The Loves of Carmen, on its own merit, doesn't provide the viewer with a believable story. Mainly, the leading male characters are weak; despite the oppression of Gypsies in a Spanish dominated town, Carmen is able to do whatever she wants to do with impunity; and Ford's & Hayworth's Spanish accents annoyingly wax and wain throughout the film. It's not a terrible film, but overall, it's just OK. The cinematography is the best thing about it.
