Smallville: Accelerate (2003)
Season 2, Episode 21
6/10
Just like that X-Files episode written by Stephen King.

It was as though the show was on hiatus. The story was different, but I liked this different approach to the story. Witness however, was boring. And very similar to a lot of future filler episodes for the show. Chloe's feathered hair got more bird-like, and her character was at her most obnoxious too. Accelerate is the show trying out the horror genre, with that creepy opening scene. The ambiguity remains until the second half of the episode. Which is where the it starts losing steam. The closing scene though, was very good. And redeemed the rest, by showing us the ropes to one of Lionel's secret projects. The episode is very similar to the X-Files, tonally speaking too. Through the plot and the predominance of Mark Snow's score. And is the first true Lana centric of the season. It also has Neil Flynn in a more serious role and « I'm with you » used for the first time on TV. And a smooth way to lead to the overwhelming two hours season finale.
