. . . such human Holiday traditions as kissing under the mistletoe and tying up presents with red ribbons and bows? THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS mines such ludicrous anthropomorphism for its humor, as viewers wonder what the deluded animators will do next. Will these fraternizing enemies light Advent candles, and burn down the roof over their heads? Will they hang up miniature Christmas stockings? Will they brave the blizzard outside for a neighborhood round of Yule Tide caroling? If so, will they remain mute, or be able to sing words in the American language? Do they believe in Santa Claus? Only the animators know.
