The way Saints Row 2 was back in 2019 I refuse to play it after beating the story mode of the game. If you're new to saints row and have never played any games in the series start off here. That last buggy mission in 2 and then this, there is such an improvement in quality. I don't know why so many virgin slayers don't like the humor and ridiculousness of this game it has a unique charm.

The gameplay is smoother, the game doesn't crash when it feels like and best of all the missions are fun no random RPG launchers or over powered gangs. All the people who say SR2 (saints row 2) is better and if this claim is based on the PC port on steam need to get their heads out of their bums. It's either nostalgia or maybe the xbox or ps3 version is a better port who knows. The team behind this understands we STILL like to do rampages. There is a ton of creativity, customization went a long way and there is a ton of guns you'll actually see some differences in. Not like in GTA 5 where there is 7 pistols that all look and do almost the exact same thing.

With all the DLC there is about 30 hours of gameplay to get 100% but it's a story you'll surely spend twice that replaying the game at least once or twice. Stunt jumps are not required to get 100% thankfully. They went light on the collection items too thankfully as that was my least favorite thing to do in GTA games.

How this game excels is you can get cars delivered to you, it's easier to steal a car in this game than SR2 and there are more cars on the streets whether that be updated system requirements or not. Because of that you're not taking the taxi everywhere. The city is a good size where it doesn't feel like a chore going from A to B such as the mission where Trevor goes to Los Santos the first time in GTA5. You've got difficulty levels and having them means that you'll take more than 2 shotgun bullets. Which is a breath of fresh air I love how over the top this game can be as if I wanted a realistic simulator the GTA franchise is the last place I'd look. They should have thought of that before letting CJ jump from practically the ozone and surviving by the time you beat the game or tommy vercetti scratching his testicles with an uzi how much life he had.

The story is one of revenge, there is plenty more cut scenes and the voice actors improved, more dialogue between the characters. There is more cars, the team spent more time modeling characters whether you play on low quality or not. The music is not as good in my opinion as saints row 2 but that's alright. We all got phones full of our music we want. The cars can blend together as a lot of them look almost the same. There is no racing in this either which if i was 14 again I'd be thrilled as I hated those missions in vice city.

The wanted system is superior in this saints row. You can get wanted by gangs, or by the cops or both so it isn't one 6 star to worry about. Even if you take the entire city over 100% you can still do odd missions or challenges to get those last few gang related challenges. I say do the collection missions as soon as you get a helicopter though this will give you plenty of time to get called to do a bunch of the challenges. Some of my least favorites are anything to do with zombies, 50 hostage situations, 50 taunting gang members as they made it easier in SR4. I wasn't a fan of the car jackings especially the last one is just sadistic or the survival missions tend to drag Unlike SR4 or gat out of hell you can take a while to get 6 star wanted levels. It doesn't happen in 5-ish seconds with the right over powered gun. Though I do love the super powers of SR4. Best of all rampages never end until you do. The only way to die once you beat the game and are level 50 which doesn't take too long to get to is dying in car explosions. Last but not least there is no annoying mission like the RC cars in GTA SA.

This was a step in the right direction to stand out as there is a ton of serious open world shooters to play instead. The way this game excels is its creativity. Some car upgrades having spikes on the tires to getting a flame throwing motorcycle delivered to you and the really over the top saints tank if you buy the game with all the DLC really make the game shine, get all the property as quickly as possible too to really give an edge to make the missions near the end easier as the weapons do get better as you upgrade them. I mean some of the harder enemies are still bullet sponges but firing a dual level 4 SMG will usually empty a room. There are zombies, giants, cyber levels heavily inspired by tron, driving a tank out of a plane and shooting everything in sight. Controlling cars with an RC type gun and doing chaos, running into traffic to mess around with the rag doll physics of the game or driving a car with a tiger in the back speeding around. There are a lot more helicopters and all that have weapons instead of just the few GTA 5 has as well. Again not wasting my time with gta online to get that junk. Cars don't blow up as easily, same goes for choppers and planes. Wait that's fun? Shh don't tell dan and sam houser. There is more than enough money to go around too in this game.

The fact you can recruit gang members, get back up from your phone, the pause and map menus they did serious work on and it's really improved or say Oleg (giant guy) to assist you helps big time taking over parts of the city like a good grand theft auto such as san andraes or vice city stories. But you take the entire city over instead of just the poor projects looking parts of it so you can recruit gang members anywhere. There is more than enough ammo to go around. I just hate how sometimes the game doesn't know which car to go into or you actually need people in missions and can't leave them behind. You can also warp to shore if you are in the middle of an "ocean".

The gun fighting is not as polished as GTA 5. Shooting someone is more satisfying as in gta 5 or hitman absolution i played around the same time. There is no cover besides a crouch button. You just run around like a chicken with its head cut off which takes some time getting used to but remember this game is for fun not for realism. The city is bright and colorful which is a nice touch considering how dull and uninspired the previous city was. Of course everyone will say pshh they prefer Los Santos or liberty city but who wants to travel through those stupid mountain , farm land and woods about as many players who stop for red lights in those games but still gta had more of a great atmosphere. The side missions and all in saints row have a lot more replay than crappy tennis or darts, there is no golf or yoga no one ever wanted either.

If you want to play a game without a properly paced difficulty, that crashes a lot - saints row 2 if you want a game that is too realistic and boring side missions and golf - gta 5 if you want to have fun, do some original side missions , have a real rampage like the good gta games - saints row 3 and if you finish saints row 3 , saints row 4 is a blast, don't listen to the "elite gamers"
