Can't Stop the Music

Warning: Spoilers
One Piece Film: Red is the fifteenth installment in the film franchise. In this film, the straw hats head to a music event hosted by Uta. Shanks's Daughter where after arriving things takes a serious turn of events. I feel as if some things need to be said that can't be avoided no matter how you try to work around them. So to get down to the basics of what the film is about. It's without a doubt a bait and switches and many ways will disappoint fans. Expecting a film about Shanks this film sadly is not really about Shank it is entirely about Uta who is revealed rather quickly to be the villain. She wants to bring the world together in peace and harmony with her music. Without giving too much away I have to say for one piece it's pretty messed up the way she intended to pull it off. So as a villain she's okay. As for the structure of the rest of the film. It is rather flat with its story. The film does market Uta as a singer with a music devil fruit, but I don't think many fans will be expecting these many songs. There is about 8 total in the film and the songs aren't bad they're pretty good. This whole thing is just one big AMV. The way it's shot with all the music numbers, music styles, artistic visuals, and colors. This is a more goofy movie centered around music. So if you are not one for song numbers then that will have an impact on audiences vary. The last gripe is the length it's a little too long for what it is doing. The characters are alright the straw hats are their usual selves nobody stands out this time around outside of Jimbei making his first appearance as a member of the crew. You have a couple of fun side appearances from others like Law and Bartolomeo which are welcomed. It's not a smorgasbord like Stampede where they pretty much threw every popular character in just for a cameo. The action goes well, but near the end, it goes so over the top, and it's great.
