. . . most people are familiar with X-Rays and CAT scans, but at a loss when anyone brings up "f-l-u-o-r-o-s-c-o-p-y." This F- procedure is so "old school" that even this site's spellchecker rejects it for being too anachronistic. However, since it is at the center of the plot for THERAPEUTIC PINK, it is crucial to know a little bit about it. Old Tom Edison and others began tinkering with this F- procedure in the 1890's. For decades, the main use of this method of conducting internal bodily exams was for shoe fitting. After thousands of incidences of severe burns and cancer, nearly every American department store pulled these infernal devices from their shoe sections. Naturally, this development freed up all of the F machines for America's hospitals, which stay in business when accidents and cancer happen.
