The Wild Wild West (1965–1969)

Mid 60s gold!
25 January 2023
Growing up in the 1960s (born in 63) and into the 1970s, The Wild Wild West was one of my favorite western shows. Everything about the show was fantastically done. Seeing some of the episodes after all these years just reinforces my original 'dreaming kid' opinions of the show.

Robert Conrad has always been a favorite of mine - I also loved him in the 70s show Baa Baa Blacksheep, where he played the real life WWII ace who actually led a squadron of misfit pilots in the Pacific Theater.

I also read the biography of the real "Pappy" Boyington (Conrad's character in the TV series) and the show was very much true to the actual historical account.

I've also been a sci-fi freak since about 3 years old - I clearly remember watching the original run of Star Trek in the mid 60s with my dad. The various tech and sci-fi type stuff that Major West, et al (villains too) used during the episodes was a constant source of fascination for my young brain and imagination.

I recommend this show above everything since, with the exception of the original Star Trek series.
