Killer Shark (2021)
5/10
This film may have benefitted from airing after a truly awful shark attack movie.

My husband fell asleep with the remote control in his hands after putting on a terrible, so-bad-it-wasn't-even-wonderfully-awful shark film, the name of which I don't even know.

Killer Shark followed, and I had a lap full of complicated knitting, so I couldn't get up and immediately change it. And a little part of me is glad I didn't.

The film is in Mandarin with subtitles - which isn't easy when kitting - but the English subtitles seemed to have been provided by a mediocre translation application without any sort of review or editing by an English language expert, so much of it was nonsensical and kind of hilarious.

However, the story was clear and cliche enough that full comprehension of the script wasn't particularly necessary, and frankly the tone of the actors' voices clearly conveyed the little bits of story woven into the action. Flirting, teasing, closeness, ex lovers, sacrifice, and finally, guilt and heartache.

This is no masterpiece, but it served as entertaining.

However it was one of three shark movies in a row in which the shark said RAAAWR as it was attacking. Guys, sharks don't have vocal chords.
